Painting on Plaster

I paint in acrylics and use a variety of mixed media on plaster to create highly individual semi abstract paintings, which I cast as 3-d tiles. The plaster creates a chalky, highly absorbent base which I work back into once the paint has dried; carving and sanding with a selection of tools that I also use in relief and intaglio printmaking. The plaster acts like a third pair of hands; adding layers of texture, including air bubbles from the original mixing process, that would be hard to achieve if I’d planned it! Each textured painting is air-dried, UV sealed and waxed before presenting in deep, open box frames. Sometimes I use glass covered frames, depending on the commission.

All of the pieces below have sold, but I usually have a handful in the studio. Please message me if you would like to see what is currently available.
